Go Forth And Slay

Brand New One Woman Musical Quest

Book: Anne-Marie Piazza
Music and Lyrics: Darren Clark

“Go forth and slay” is a one woman musical quest into the dark, facing down those monsters and dragging them into the light.  We will follow our Dragon slayer Emrys as she lives in two concurrent times: In the here & now, and the ancient mythology of Cymru.

Thursday 26th March Darren and Anne-Marie will be pitching at BEAM 2020 at the Royal & Derngate Northampton. They will be presenting in Screen 2 as part of Pitch 3 at 16.20 and again at 17.30.

About the Piece

How do we transform our personal trauma into something powerful that we can harness rather than be overwhelmed by? Our greatest daemons live within us. “Go Forth And Slay” is a one woman musical quest through pain to self discovery that speaks to the power of the feminine. Over the course of 70 minutes, Anne-Marie will delve deep into the stories that have make her who she is, a journey that will explore our own personal mythologies and how to take ownership of our narrative in a world that increasingly tells us what we should believe.

Blending these stories into a world of fantastical mythology involving the Celtic legends of Anne-Marie’s Welsh background, Clark and Piazza will rip open the fabric of myth itself and discover why the stories we tell ourselves hold such power over us.

Using extraordinary storytelling and a menagerie of instruments, the aim is that all the music will either be played live or have been recorded by Anne-Marie herself so that this truly is a one woman journey that will be dark, funny, beautiful and fearsome in equal measure.
